MILFORD — Studio You Salon & Day Spa offers experiences that are all about you, with health and wellness services including hairstyling, massages, facials and personal training.

Every inch of its 39 N. Walnut St. location provides these all-around resources, said owner Annie Tenpas.

“It was already a functioning salon, and I am a personal trainer that was looking to expand my business for a couple years,” she said. “I knew about the unfinished space, and I have always had the intention of having a wellness space.”

She felt that Milford was the perfect location for the salon and spa.

“I feel that Studio You fills a void,” she added. “There are so many beauty professionals that are fantastic in Milford, but you have to pop around for all the different services. I really wanted to make a wellness-centered experience.”

Ms. Tenpas purchased the site in January, and it has been fully operational for about a month. Employees are still putting together a few finishing touches.

“We have shifted more into a health-and-wellness kind of vibe,” she said. “It gives people the opportunity to fulfill their needs in one space.

“I love when people come in and get really excited about how fresh the space is and how calming it feels. Everyone comments about how it is a hidden gem.”

She credits her team of specialists for creating the atmosphere, as they each have knowledge to teach clients about wellness.

“Everyone has such skills, and I have been very intentional with the professionals I have hired because everyone has a varied education and wellness-minded thinking,” Ms. Tenpas said.

“We all work together, so it is a very collaborative experience.”

For instance, she works closely with the massage therapists to learn what clients may need to work on during personal-training sessions.

And, though she loves having customers come in, she also wants to teach them self-care.

“We don’t want people to rely on us,” Ms. Tenpas said. “We want people to take ownership of their health. We want you to be able to go home and do your hair the same way. We want your hair, face, skin and everything to be healthy.

“I love when people see that everything is connected and that we are providing a space to make everyone the best version of themselves.”
