SALISBURY, Md. – Families can get ready for the upcoming school year at Fresh Start: A Wicomico County Back to School Event.

Fresh Start will be held Sunday, Aug. 25, from 1-4 p.m. at the Wicomico Civic Center. The free event is a collaborative effort between numerous Wicomico County organizations.

“Every new school year is a chance for a fresh start,” says Tara O’Barsky from the Wicomico County Board of Education. “When students and families are equipped with the supplies they need and access to community resources, it can make a huge difference in removing potential barriers and improve educational outcomes.”

Children entering kindergarten and up can receive a free backpack and several essential school supplies. Free haircuts and family activities will be available as well.

This event is first come, first served. No registration is necessary.

“We are thrilled with the continued community support Fresh Start has received,” said James Simmons, recreation superintendent for Wicomico County Rec & Parks. “Through collaboration we can make a deeper impact and help set our youth up for success.”
