    A Texas man has tragically died after his Tesla Cybertruck veered off the road for 'unknown reasons' and caught fire . This marks the first known fatal accident involving Elon Musk's latest electric pickup, which is yet to undergo independent crash tests.

    Despite Tesla's strong safety record with its vehicle lineup, this incident raises questions about the Cybertruck, touted as exceptionally durable . The vehicle was reportedly in 'full self-drive mode' when the accident occurred.

    Tesla has recently recalled over 1.8 million vehicles due to a hood issue that could cause accidents . The Cybertruck has been a popular model in the U.S. , with between 15,000 and 20,000 units on the roads and monthly sales of around 1,754.

    This fatal accident, which happened early on Monday, August 6, around 1:45 a. m.

    in Baytown, Texas , is the first recorded for the Cybertruck. According to state troopers, the vehicle veered off Fisher Road near the Grand Parkway and collided with a concrete culvert, causing it to catch fire and sustain extensive damage.

    The Cybertruck driver was declared dead at the scene. Due to severe burns and extensive fire damage, authorities have been unable to identify the driver or retrieve crucial details such as the license plate and VIN.

    The Texas Department of Public Safety is still investigating the cause of the crash.

    Elon Musk and Tesla have not yet commented on the incident or the ongoing investigation. This tragic event has reignited debates about the safety of autonomous and electric vehicles, with particular concerns raised about the Cybertruck's performance in critical situations.
