A woman was sent to the hospital with critical injuries after a car hit her in Aloha early this week.

The Washington County Sheriff's office received a call around 6:10 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 25, reporting that a pedestrian was struck while attempting to cross Southwest 185th Avenue at Southwest Blanton Street.

According to authorities, a 68-year-old woman was either in the area of an unmarked crosswalk or just outside of it when she began to walk across the road. At the same time, a driver in a Kia Forte was making a right turn onto 185th from Blanton. After the impact, the driver immediately began to render aid to the woman.

“(The driver) cooperated with the investigation. At this point, there is no indication that there is a criminal element to this case,” Shannon Wilde, public information officer with the sheriff’s office, said.

The sheriff's office did not have an update on the pedestrian's injuries as of Wednesday, Aug. 28, but the woman was confirmed to be transported to a hospital with “very serious injuries.”

An investigation is currently underway by the Washington County Crash Analysis Reconstruction Team.

Southwest 185th Avenue northbound was closed for around three hours between Blanton Street and Shaw Street while deputies investigated the crash Sunday.
