Dog Days of Summer set for Saturday at Quincy Town Center
QUINCY — Homeward Bound Waggin, Inc., will hold Dog Days of Summer from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, July 13, at the Quincy Town Center. Activities for your dog throughout the day will be a Doggie Dash, Dachshund Derby Plus, dog games and paw painting. Enter your dachshund, puppies, rookies and mixed breed in the derby for $20 per entry. Dog games will be a peanut butter licking contest, musical sit contest and pool diving. You can enter your pooch into contests for Best Kisser, Wiggle Butt, Look Alike and more.

After filing for bankruptcy, a small Arby's franchisee is selling some locations and closing others. Miracle Restaurant Group LLC, a company based out of Louisiana has filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection. Illinois site brings people up close with animals
ARCOLA, Ill. — Aikman Wildlife Adventure in Arcola, Illinois, gives people a chance to get close to animals not usually seen in Illinois forests or farms. The attraction is 40 acres, with half of it is a drive-thru experience and the other half walkable. James Aikman, president of Aikman Wildlife Adventure, said the attraction began construction in September 2015 and the drive-thru opened in March 2016.

Pritzker signs bill creating new Department of Early Childhood
SPRINGFIELD – Gov. JB Pritzker signed legislation Tuesday creating a new cabinet-level state agency dedicated to early childhood education and development. The new Department of Early Childhood, which will become operational in July 2026, will take over programs currently housed across three state agencies, including funding for preschool programs, child care centers and the licensing of day care centers.
