The key to talking about mental health: ‘Make sure people feel comfortable.’
Chris Hopper said his leadership in mental health education began in 2018, when a colleague gave a moving speech at an event about losing his father to suicide. Knowing that the construction industry has a high rate of suicide, Hopper, executive vice president and general manager of Indiana, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee for Skanska USA, partnered with the Lindner Center of Hope. The Ohio-based mental health facility helped Hopper implement the Start the Conversation program, in an attempt to remove the stigma from sensitive topics on the jobsite.

Robert’s Western World to Celebrate 25 Years With Block Party
On August 5th, Robert’s Western World, known as Nashville’s Home of Traditional Country Music, will celebrate its 25th year under the proprietorship of JesseLee Jones, the leader of its house band, Brazilbilly. Robert’s is taking over the stretch of Lower Broadway between Fourth and Fifth Avenues just outside of the venue for a block party. The festivities are free and will begin at 10:00 am CT, with bands and special guests performing until 11:00 pm CT between two stages. The lineup will be announced shortly. LPD Officers Return From Republican National Convention
La Vergne, TN - Five members of the La Vergne Police Department returned Friday (7/19/2024) from assignment at the Republican National Convention (RNC) in Milwaukee, WI. Chief Christopher Moews said, “This was an honor for La Vergne Police to be part of the security presence at the Repblican National Convention. “I am proud of their willingness to serve their country and to represent the City of La Vergne with honor and distinction. Following push from parents, CMCSS elementaries create longer recess times: Currently, CMCSS schools provide only 15-20 minutes of outside recess time. For the 2024-25 school year starting next month, that has been extended to 30 minutes.

The Friends of Cookeville and Putnam County Animals are hosting an event to provide affordable treatments and screenings for pets in the community. The events are called H.E.A.R.T.S which stands for Helping Every Animal Receive Treatments and Services. The event will consist of treatments such as vaccines and lab work. President of the organization Sarah Hawlik said they are hosting the event as they saw a need for affordable pet care in the community.
