BELOIT — Aurora University used six pitchers against Beloit College Sunday and while they combined to walk seven batters and only strike out four, the Buccaneers couldn’t take advantage.

Beloit (21-15) was blanked for the first time all season, 5-0, at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium in the regular-season finale. The Bucs will play in the Midwest Conference postseason tournament starting Friday in Appleton, hosted by No. 1-seeded Lawrence.

The Bucs managed only four singles against Aurora, two by left fielder Seth Brankey and one apiece by Jack Alport and Brett Kiger. They stranded nine baserunners.

Justin Zimmerman started on the mound for Aurora (29-9) and pitched two innings, allowing one hit and striking out one. Adrian Ruiz worked the next two scoreless innings, followed by CJ Cazares (one inning), Owen Piazza (one inning), Sam Harvey (one inning) and Joey Pettit (two innings). Harvey (5-1) picked up the victory.

Beloit’s Aiden Phipps (7-3) started and absorbed the loss, the victim of the long ball. He allowed only three hits in three innings, but two were home runs. Nik Panico hit a two-run homer off him in the first inning and Tyler Patton belted a solo shot in the second.

In his three innings, Phipps walked one and struck out one.

Ben Schweit came on in relief and pitched three scoreless innings, allowing two hits and no walks while striking out one. Aurora tacked on two runs in the ninth off Harvey Pena, who allowed three hits, two walks and two strikeouts.
