Quiet this evening, but that may not be the case tomorrow morning and especially tomorrow evening
HASTINGS, Neb. (KSNB) - It will be the same old story of hot and humid conditions to end out the weekend. The only difference will be the return of storm chances starting overnight tonight through Sunday. This evening will be quiet for most of us. The exception will be western parts of the state as storms move off of the high plains. There is a marginal risk for severe storms in western counties of the Local4 viewing area. The primary threats being large hail and damaging wind gusts. This activity will weaken as it moves east into central Nebraska overnight. Any showers or storms that happen to make it into the Tri-Cities just after midnight will be weak. As far as temperatures overnight tonight, look for lows in the mid to upper 60s with a few lower 70s east and south.
Renters would get some relief, too, under a pair of legislative proposals
LINCOLN — Nebraska renters would get some financial relief in the form of an income tax credit under a pair of proposals to be considered by the Legislature. State Sens. Terrell McKinney of North Omaha and Eliot Bostar of Lincoln each introduced a bill Thursday seeking to compensate renters who otherwise would not automatically reap any direct benefit from property tax reforms being pushed by Gov. Jim Pillen.

Nebraska Football Countdown to Kickoff: No. 35 DB D’Andre Barnes
Our countdown to kickoff for the Nebraska Cornhuskers and their 2024 regular season opener against the UTEP Miners is down to just 35 days. In the player spotlight with just 35 days remaining is Huskers redshirt freshman defensive back D’Andre Barnes. A consensus three-star prospect out of Regis Jesuit High School in the greater Denver metro area, Hayes committed to the Huskers over offers from Air Force, Bowling Green, BYU, Nevada, and Wyoming as part of the Huskers 2023 recruiting class. In his true freshman season in 2023, Barnes did not see playing time, redshirting, giving him four years of eligibility entering this fall. This fall, it seems unlikely for Barnes to see any considerable playing time but could play as a deep depth piece when the situation allows. ESPN’s Herbstreit talks about Nebraska football, Dylan Raiola and Matt Rhule
Nebraska head coach Matt Rhule received praise from one of college football’s top analysts. ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit appeared on the Pat McAfee show earlier in the week. While discussing the current landscape of college football, Herstreit was asked about the Husker head coach and his early work at Nebraska. The analyst believes that Rhule is a perfect fit for college football. “I think he knew when he went to Lincoln and got out of the NFL that he missed college. I think he and his family missed that environment. I think he was very selective, he had a lot of opportunities. He...
