BERNALILLO, N.M. (KRQE) – Former Bernalillo Police Department Officer Jeramie Nevarez has pled guilty in a domestic misdemeanor battery case against him. Nevarez was arrested by the Rio Rancho Police Department in November after his girlfriend at the time told officers that Nevarez wouldn’t let her leave and got physical.

The former Bernalillo police officer was at the center of a tense traffic stop that KRQE Investigates exposed last year when Nevarez pointed guns at a family without explanation. He was fired from the police department in December.

As part of his guilty plea, a judge ordered Nevarez to one year of supervised probation. He must complete anger management, a parenting class, and a domestic violence program. Nevarez is also prohibited from carrying a firearm.
