BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – A Binghamton man appeared in Broome County Court on Wednesday and admitted to carrying out a 2023 burglary.

Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti announced that Demetrius Armstrong, 49, pleaded guilty to Burglary in the Second Degree on day three of a jury trial.

On September 7, 2023, Armstrong broke into a home in the City of Binghamton with the intent to steal items. He was found inside the residence by the Binghamton Police Department.

Armstrong is scheduled to appear back in court for sentencing in October. He will face a sentence between 5 and 15 years in New York State Prison followed by 5 years of post-release supervision.

“Breaking into someone’s home with the intent to steal is a serious violation of public safety
and privacy. Armstrong will now face time in New York State Prison for his selfish and
    heinous acts,” said Battisti.
