Free car seat inspections coming to the Southern Tier in August

SOUTHERN TIER, N.Y. ( WETM ) – Several free car seat inspection events are being held in the Southern Tier during the month of August for parents and caregivers who need help choosing a car seat for their child.
According to a release from the Governor’s Traffic Safety Committee, car seat inspections for the Southern Tier will be taking place in Schuyler, Broome, Steuben and Tompkins counties.
During the inspection, certified child passenger safety technicians will educate parents and caregivers on how to choose and properly install the correct seat for their child’s age and size, as well as their vehicle.

These events are part of a year-round initiative where state and local law enforcement agencies, as well as a variety of community safety partners, offer free car seat inspections to ensure the safety of each child who rides in a vehicle.
