One in serious condition following crash near Birch Tree, patrol says

A Birch Tree man was seriously injured in a Shannon County accident involving a motorcycle Monday evening, the Missouri State Highway Patrol said.

Jimmy D. Rogers, 65, was driving a 1998 Yamaha V Star motorcycle eastbound on Highway Y one and one-half miles south of Birch Tree when he turned into the path of a 2010 GMC pickup driven by a 17-year-old juvenile from Birch Tree, patrol said. The vehicles struck, ejecting Rogers.

Rogers was transported by Air Evac to Mercy Hospital in Springfield.

Both were wearing safety devices. The motorcycle received moderate damage, the pickup had minor damage.

Investigating the accident was Cpl. M. Barron, Tpr. L. J. Combs and the Birch Tree Fire Department.
