Renew Birmingham to host Cookout and Car Show on Saturday

BIRMINGHAM, Ala (WIAT) – Renew Birmingham will host a Cookout and Car Show event on Saturday featuring free food, giveaways and more.

The event will take place from 2 p.m. to 6 p.m. in downtown Ensley on Avenue D in front of Cottons. Organizers say there will be a free barbecue, car show, kids’ area and $50 giveaways every half-hour.

“The point of the engagement is to give people the understanding that we are responsible in our community for revitalizing our own. Particularly the culture that we have out here,” said Gerrel Jones, executive director of Renew Birmingham. “It is the responsibility of the residents to change the community.”
