BISMARCK, ND ( KXNET ) — A man is in jail after police in Bismarck say he attacked a woman and stole her pickup.

The incident happened Saturday around 9 p.m. when a woman told police she was walking to her vehicle in the parking lot at Sanford Orthopedics. The woman says she could hear her car alarm going off, and saw a man sitting in the driver’s seat.

The woman says the man, later identified as James Driver, got out and began yelling at her. He then hit the woman before taking off in her pickup.

An officer then found Driver in a strip mall parking lot along 43rd Avenue, ramming the glass at a nail salon. He told police he believed his daughter was being held captive in the back of a cookie store next door. Police suspect Driver was hallucinating.

Driver was in court on Monday. He’s being charged with three felonies, including robbery and reckless endangerment. A judge set his bond at $50,000.

Driver will be in court again in September. His trial is scheduled for November 20.
