The Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office says the crash happened at approximately 11:45 p.m. on 96th Avenue near Bingham Street in Blendon Township. The 19-year-old from Hudsonville was heading northbound when he lost control of his car, ran into the ditch and rolled. The vehicle landed on its roof and caught fire.

The driver, the only person in the vehicle, was able to get out of the car on his own before first responders arrived.

A crew from the Blendon Township Fire Department put out the fire quickly and 96th Avenue was closed for approximately an hour to clean up the crash.

The driver, who was wearing his seatbelt, was taken to Corewell Health Zeeland Hospital to be treated for non-life-threatening injuries. The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
