PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD/WYZZ) — Bloomington’s win was more than just a victory that advances the Purple Raiders in the baseball postseason.

Bloomington beat Rantoul, 10-0, in the semifinals of the class 3A Mahomet regional. The victory is number 400 in the career of head coach Steve Clapp.

The career leader for wins in the program, Clapp is in his 20th season as head coach and has led the Raiders to eight regional championships. Bloomington faces host Mahomet-Seymour for the regional championship on Saturday at 11 a.m.

Dunlap is tied with Chicago University High School for first place after one day of the boys state tennis tournament. The Eagles have 18 points heading into Friday’s action.

At the state track meet, several area boys had the top performances in the class 1A prelims. Ridgeview’s Dominic Martin (110 hurdles, 300 hurdles, high jump), Elmwood’s Isaiah Hill (800, 1600), Central Catholic’s Isaiah Whitaker (pole vault) and Hank Alvey of Illini Bluffs (discus) had the top efforts on Thursday.

The boys 2A and 3A prelims are Friday with the state finals set for Saturday in Charleston.
