Pathway Services Expanding to Downtown Jacksonville Location
Pathway Services is expanding to a location in Downtown Jacksonville in the near future. The Journal Courier reports that Pathway purchased the 6,000-square-foot building at 31 S. Central Park Plaza, formerly the home of Trone Appliance Center, late last month. Ryan Dowd, executive director of Pathway Services, told the paper that the agency will move major portions of its Community Day Services program to the building to expand workforce opportunities. Dowd says the move will take place within the next 6 months after renovations are done to the building.

Jacksonville African-American History Museum Hosting Summer Reading Series
The Jacksonville African American History Museum is back open and is ramping up a new summer reading program for children. The history museum went down early in the Spring after a pipe burst causing major water damage. African-American History Museum Board President Alberta Robinson says that as a part of the restoration and renovation of the nearly 200-year old Asa Talcott House came a brand new space for children: “We decided to bring book readings on Wednesdays. It’s called the Unity Club Reading Series, and we do it every Wednesday from 1-2PM in the new children’s room. It’s a multi-cultural reading room where we read not only books about African-American history but about other cultures, too and their history also.”
Area businesses to ‘paint the town purple on Saturday for Alzheimer’s Association
QUINCY — The Alzheimer’s Association is painting Quincy, Jacksonville and Macomb purple the weekend of July 20. This is awareness event will have participating organizations distributing information about the Alzheimer’s Association’s free services that support people dealing with all types of dementia and their loved ones.
