Teen drivers have opportunity for free training
LIMA — Teen drivers will have an opportunity to practice crash avoidance techniques with a licensed instructor on a closed course at Lima Senior High School on Aug. 7 and 8. These free four-hour sessions are organized by the Ohio State Highway Patrol and the Ohio Traffic Safety Office and will help teen drivers learn skills like skid recovery and how to deal with an anti-lock braking system.
Groundwork Ohio makes a stop in Lima to gather input on childcare and early childhood education
LIMA, OH (WLIO) - A state-wide advocacy group working to improve the well-being of young children for the future of Ohio is making a stop in Lima. It was the 14th and last stop for Groundwork Ohio this summer in their Roadshow Listening Tour. They have been gathering input from community leaders and those professionals who provide care for children from birth to 5 years of age. Mayor Sharetta Smith and Findlay Mayor Christina Muryn were on hand to share their concerns about poverty and early childhood education.
Shawnee High School Marching Band is perfecting their festival show for the upcoming season
SHAWNEE TOWNSHIP, OH (WLIO) - Music filled the air Tuesday evening in Shawnee Township!. The Shawnee High School Marching Band was hard at work practicing for their 2024 festival show performance inspired by the Broadway play Wicked. The jazzy show will include renditions of famous songs including "No One Mourns the Wicked," "Defying Gravity," and "No Good Deed." In between drills and run-throughs, we talked with two students about not only the friendships associated with marching band but the educational components as well.
