BOGALUSA, La. — The Northshore Charter School’s Washington Parish Youth Coalition, in partnership with the Bogalusa Police Department and business owner James Barber, spearheaded the National Sticker Shock Campaign on Feb. 22 to combat underage drinking.

The initiative, designed to deter adults from buying alcohol for minors, involved placing warning stickers in prominent locations at the Club Car Lounge in Bogalusa. These stickers serve as a reminder of the legal ramifications under Louisiana law RS 14:93.11, which prohibits the purchase of alcohol for those under the age of 21.

Barber, the proprietor of the Club Car Lounge, has been recognized for his cooperation and adherence to state laws aimed at protecting local youth. The campaign’s success is attributed to the combined efforts of the community, law enforcement, and local youth.

Businesses interested in supporting the Sticker Shock Campaign are encouraged to contact Jana Pounds at Adapt by calling 985-735-0160. This collaborative initiative underscores the community’s commitment to curbing underage drinking and ensuring the safety of its younger residents.
