The Boston Celtics finally won Banner 18 after defeating the Dallas Mavericks in five games in the 2024 NBA Finals. They followed that up by locking up all of their core players with new deals or contract extensions, save for backup forward Sam Hauser. And then they decided to sell the team?

You read that right, and if you are a little baffled by this sudden curveball pretty much no one but our April Fools’ Day joke saw coming, you are far from alone. Boston Celtics said in a statement that the owners will sell a “majority interest” in 2024 and 2025, finalizing the sale in 2028. Wyc Grousbeck is expected to remain Governor until 2028.

Could John Henry, the owner of the Red Sox, be an option to purchase the reigning NBA champions? On the latest episode of the “Garden Report” podcast, CLNS Media’s John Zannis and Bobby Manning discussed the recent news. Check it out below!
