    Former Boston police sergeant sentenced in overtime scheme

    BOSTON (WWLP) – A former Boston police sergeant has been sentenced as part of an overtime fraud scheme.

    George Finch of Franklin was sentenced to three years of probation, to be followed by six months to be served in home detention, and ordered to pay $11,310 in restitution. He pleaded guilty in 2021 to one count of conspiracy to commit theft concerning programs receiving federal funds and one count of embezzlement from an agency receiving federal funds.

    Finch was convicted for overtime hours he did not work at the evidence warehouse between March 2015 and December 2016. To date, 15 Boston cops have been charged for overtime fraud, Finch is the fifth to be sentenced so far.
