Red Sox 3B Rafael Devers appears to avoid serious injury on Tuesday

On Tuesday, the Boston Red Sox snapped their four-game losing streak to defeat the Colorado Rockies 6-0, but the night was almost a disaster for Alex Cora's team.

In the bottom of the sixth inning, with one man on and no outs, Rockies infielder Ezequiel Tovar ripped a grounder past Red Sox third baseman Rafael Devers. Devers attempted to dive for the ball, but landed awkwardly on his shoulder, forcing the All-Star to remain on the ground in pain.

The play and reaction were eerily similar to Trevor Story's shoulder injury earlier in the season.

Thankfully, Devers was able to complete the game, and after the contest, Boston's manager provided a positive update.

“Obviously, [we were thinking] the worst, right? We’ve been through this path before,” Cora said ( transcribed by MassLive ). “But he’s OK. He said he just jammed it. He took some vicious hacks in the last at-bat. He said he’ll be ready for tomorrow.”

Even Devers seemed to feel better about it afterward.

"At the beginning, I was a little bit scared, but after that, I was sure that it was nothing serious," Dever said ( via. Alex Speier ). "But yeah, at the beginning I felt a little bit scared because I didn't land in a good way...I like to play so I feel like I'm gonna be available tomorrow."

Hopefully, at night of rest eases his mind and allows him to enter the series finale healthy because Boston can't afford to keep dropping games to inferior opponents at this stage of the season.
