Travis Hunter is going to the NFL one day. However, he may need to make a big decision before he does that.

Hunter played in nine games for the Colorado Buffaloes last season. He spent time at both cornerback and receiver. Hunter recorded 721 receiving yards and five touchdowns on offense. Defensively, he had 30 total tackles, two tackles for loss, and three interceptions.

Per On3 Sports , ESPN's Matt Miller does not think Hunter will have the chance to play both positions in the NFL. Miller foresees Hunter having to choose one position to play before turning pro.

“He’s a three-way player,” Miller told Kevin Negandhi on SportsCenter Tuesday night. “But I do think at some point, he’ll be really forced by NFL teams to make a decision. We saw last year, he was playing more snaps than anyone in college football early in the season. And then, he had an injury—not related to his playing time—and he had to miss multiple games. So I think Step 1, he’s got to prove he can stay healthy. He’s not a big guy. He’s an undersized player."

No matter Hunter's position in the NFL, Miller thinks the Colorado will still be a huge playmaker.

“And then, I think that ability to just hone in on one position," Miller said. "To say, I’m gonna work on understanding the intricacies of the wide receiver position or the technique of the corner position. He’s gonna have to make that decision. But he is a playmaker where you want the ball in his hands.”

Hunter and Colorado will face the North Dakota State Bison on Aug. 29 at 8 p.m. ET on ESPN to kick off the 2024 season.
