Deion Sanders, Colorado Receive Head-Turning Season Prediction from Bruce Feldman

Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes continue to receive a ton of hype with the 2024 season right around the corner. Although last year was a bit of a disappointment, the Buffaloes technically played well above expectations. Now, with Sanders in year two as Colorado's head coach, Bruce Feldman of The Athletic shares his thoughts on their chances this year.

Before the season starts, Colorado is sitting at 5.5 over/under wins this season. However, during a guest appearance on The Rich Eisen Show , Feldman revealed he believes the Buffaloes have a real chance to win eight games instead. But it all comes down to whether Shedeur Sanders gets the protection he needs. Additionally, the Big 12 Conference being a wide-open race helps too.

"I talked to Shedeur for a little while a couple days ago and he was very high on the upgrades they had in the offensive line room and what they brought. And I suspect they will win a bunch of games late because they do have playmakers. And I do think he's a terrific quarterback. So, as long as he's healthy, as long as he's not under just total duress all the time, I think they'll get to eight wins."

Between the Big 12 being wide-open and the upgrades Deion Sanders has made to the roster, the Buffaloes can certainly reach eight games this season. Bruce Feldman does make it clear he doesn't think they can win more than eight games though. So, a College Football Playoff bid might be out of reach.

With that in mind, jumping from four wins last season to eight games this season would be massive for this program. Especially considering how long it's been since Colorado was a true threat in college football. Their last national championship win came in 1990.

Reaching eight wins would be a fantastic year for Deion Sanders and Colorado. That would mean what Sanders is doing as a head coach and recruiter is working. It would also set up the Buffaloes for future success, as more wins could translate to more success in recruiting and the transfer portal.

We'll see how it plays out though, as Feldman mentioned, the Buffaloes have a relatively tough schedule. They face a ton of teams that they can definitely beat, however, nearly none of their games will be easy. They kick off the regular season on August 29 against North Dakota State.
