While the college football media world seems more against Deion Sanders and the Colorado Buffaloes, fans still enjoy Coach Prime. The team's disastrous 1-7 end to the 2023 season aside, it's undeniable they were entertaining.

Colorado made the Pac-12 even more memorable in its final season, keeping fans awake until the wee hours of Sunday morning as their games provided wild twists.

Fans and bettors are optimistic that the Buffaloes will exceed expectations. According to the latest data provided by BetMGM Sportsbook, no team has more bet OVER win total tickets and a higher OVER handle than the Buffaloes.

Following a tumultuous yet attention-grabbing first year that garnered both widespread praise and criticism, Sanders returns alongside his quarterback son Shedeur and the versatile talent Travis Hunter.

Shortly, I will delve into the odds and futures market for Colorado football. But first, let's cover some fundamental information.

    Colorado Buffaloes 2024 Season Preview

Last season, Colorado finished with a record of 4-8, surpassing the anticipated 3.5-win total, which yielded a return of +140. However, for many observers, the team's performance fell short of expectations.

This discrepancy stems from a season of stark contrasts. In the season's initial stages, Colorado secured impressive victories over TCU, Nebraska, and Colorado State, propelling them into the AP Top 25 and sparking unprecedented excitement.

Subsequent defeats to Oregon and USC quickly tempered expectations of a championship, although the Deion-inspired enthusiasm continued to attract followers.

The latter part of the season took a sharp turn for the worse. After barely squeaking by Arizona State, Colorado experienced a string of losses against teams such as Stanford, UCLA, Oregon State, Arizona, Washington State, and Utah.

Amidst these challenges, Coach Prime remained as outspoken as ever, although the previous energy and hype surrounding the team had significantly diminished amongst the backdrop of the Rocky Mountains.

Now, as they look towards the 2024 season, Colorado is regrouping from the disappointment of the previous year. The team still boasts a strong offensive lineup, with many key players opting to stay with Colorado for the 2024 season.

Despite the mixed results from extensive use of the transfer portal in 2023, Coach Sanders is once again employing this strategy. With a combination of incoming transfers and fresh high school recruits, the team will see over 50 new faces this fall.

Expectations for Sanders' second year at the helm in Boulder are modest at best. The Big 12 media's preseason poll in July has Colorado placed 11th out of 16 teams.

Meanwhile, BetMGM’s college football futures market has the team at a distant +3000 in a Big 12 conference that is seen as wide open, with no clear favorite for the title.

    Colorado Win Total Prediction 2024

With games against Nebraska, Utah, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, Kansas, UCF, and Arizona, it's too easy to go UNDER 5.5 wins for Colorado in 2024. The Buffaloes are bringing back a bulk of its production from last season despite its chaotic transfer portal strategy .

The issue is the team's lack of proven depth in the trenches. Sanders and Hunter are amazing, first-round talents, but the rest of the roster is deeply flawed or inexperienced. Young teams don't win a ton in college football.

That all being said, I'll be tuning into the Buffaloes' games each week. They're fun, unpredictable, and this might be the final season we experience Coach Prime in Boulder.
