UNITY THEATRE TO PRESENT ‘TREASURE ISLAND’ JULY 25-28
Unity Theatre in Brenham will set sail with its upcoming summertime children’s musical. “Treasure Island”, the Prince Street Players’ version of the classic tale by Jim Eiler and Jeanne Bargy, adapted from the novel by Robert Louis Stevenson, will play for eight performances on the Main Stage from July 25-28.

BRENHAM MAN KILLED IN CRASH ON OLD CHAPPELL HILL ROAD
A Brenham man was killed in a single-vehicle accident Monday evening between Brenham and Chappell Hill. CUBETTES’ MABIE SELECTED FOR ALL STAR GAMES IN CHICAGO
A member of the Brenham Cubette Softball Team has been invited to take part in the Alliance of Fastpitch Stars of Tomorrow Games. Sarah Mabie is one of 60 girls that has been invited to compete in the games, which are being held in Chicago next month. Alliance Fastpitch is the national organizing body for travel softball.
ONE PERSON CHARGED WITH ASSAULT
One person was arrested Monday, charged with assault. Brenham Police report that Monday morning at 8:40, Officers responded to the 1000 block of Nolan Street in reference to a reported disturbance. Investigation revealed Jessica Elaine Andrade, 46 of Brenham, assaulted another family member. Andrade was arrested for Assault Family Violence and transported to the Washington County Jail for booking.
TWO PEOPLE ARRESTED FOR ACTIVE WARRANTS
Two people were arrested Monday for active warrants. Brenham police report that Monday morning at 7:30, Officers responded to a residence located in the 1800 block of Basin Trail in reference to a warrant service. Upon arrival, officers located Randa Newman Allie, 57 of Brenham, and placed her into custody for an active Injury to a Child Warrant and transported to the Washington County Jail.
MURPHY GAS STATION RENOVATION, NEW CAR WASH LEAD JUNE BUILDING PERMITS
Several commercial projects led the way for a large month of building permits issued by the City of Brenham in June. The top individual permit went to Murphy USA for $998,500. The permit was for the demolition of the existing gas station at 2615 Highway 36 South, in front of Walmart, and rebuilding at the location with a new gas station and convenience store. Work is contracted to Ready Construction Services.
CLARENCE MUEGGE CELEBRATED FOR 55 YEARS AT BRENHAM H-E-B
The Brenham H-E-B store celebrated Clarence Muegge Monday. Muegge has served H-E-B for 55 years. Muegge was hired at H-E-B in 1969 at $1.35 an hour, as he was still attending Brenham High School when he first joined. His first positions included checking out groceries, carrying out items and stocking products. He later moved to produce and assisted in the deli section. He currently unloads trucks and helps with dairy, in addition to general receiving and stocking.

Headline: Tropical Storm Beryl will affect the Texas coast early next week. The latest forecast from the National Hurricane Center tracks Beryl across the Gulf of Mexico and into Texas at Brownsville as a CAT 1 with 75 mph winds on Sunday night. The storm will then move north over the state dropping significant rainfall over the lower half of the state. It is now time to plan for heavy rain and possible flooding in South Texas early next week. The winds from the storm will drop below hurricane force by Monday night.
