A man in his 90s was killed in a St. Paul collision early Wednesday, with police saying street lights and traffic signals were down at the time following storms a day earlier.

According to the St. Paul Police Department, officers responded to a report of a two- vehicle crash at the intersection of Lexington Parkway and Como Avenue at around 5:15 a.m.

At the scene, officers found a damaged Dodge Journey and Ford Transit van that had rolled onto its side.

One of the passengers, the man in his 90s, was still inside the van when responders arrived. He was taken to Regions Hospital, where he died later on Wednesday.

The van was reportedly traveling east on Como Avenue when it was struck by the Dodge, which was traveling north on Lexington Parkway.

At the time, street lights and traffic lights in the area were not working due to damage from the Monday night storms.

The driver of the Journey, who sustained minor injuries in the crash, is cooperating with the investigation, according to SPPD.

Police say impairment is not suspected as a factor in the crash.
