Summer in the Twin Cities is loaded with a seemingly impossible number of street festivals, art fairs, farmers markets , and other outdoor events. With September's arrival and students returning to school, it can feel like the end is nigh.

Yet, the nice weather is far from over, and amid the onset of Halloween creep and apple-picking season, art fairs dot the calendar around the St. Croix Valley . Whether you're local, looking for an activity to augment exploration of state parks, or simply need a day trip, there are plenty of reasons to head to eastern Minnesota. That includes smaller art sales and huge events like Stillwater's annual Rivertown Fall Art Festival.

Here are some of the many art fairs and events taking place along the St. Croix Valley — defined pretty broadly — in September and October.
