Harrisonburg residents react to Biden dropping out the presidential race
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - With the news of President Joe Biden dropping out of the election, community members in Downtown Harrisonburg shared their initial thoughts. After Joe Biden released via Twitter announcing he would be dropping out of the 2024 election, Harrisonburg resident Daniel Saylor said he was happy to see him drop out. He said as a Republican voter no matter who the new candidate is will not change his mind about voting for Donald Trump.
City of Harrisonburg urging locals to help with stream clean up
HARRISONBURG, Va. (WHSV) - The Harrisonburg Public Works Department is asking locals to help volunteer with local stream cleanups. “Now is a good time to come out and help clean up the stream -since water levels are low,” said Stormwater Compliance Specialist Shayna Carter. Carter says the litter in and around the streams is easily accessible for cleanup due to the water levels in the summer.
Applications open for 2024 Harrisonburg Citizen Academy
HARRISONBURG, Va. (ROCKTOWN NOW) – The Harrisonburg Citizen Academy is preparing for another season of bringing City of Harrisonburg staff closer to the community. The 13-week program allows participants to visit City of Harrisonburg departments and partner organizations to learn about the services, programs and events available to community members. The program is held one night each week from Aug. 22 to mid-November.
