    Off-duty NYPD officer, 35, arrested in the Bronx on Fourth of July

    NEW YORK (1010 WINS/WCBS 880) – An off-duty NYPD officer was arrested on the Fourth of July in the Bronx, according to police.

    The officer, identified as 35-year-old Danny Arias, was taken into custody at around 11:25 p.m.

    Arias faces charges of second-degree criminal contempt.

    The details of the crime were not immediately clear. Authorities have not released further information about what happened leading to the arrest.

    The investigation is ongoing.

    According to public records , Arias has two complaints against him. In October 2022, a Black female, aged 25-29, filed a complaint for physical force. The Civilian Complaint Review Board concluded that the force used was within NYPD guidelines. In September 2020, a white 25-year-old filed a complaint for offensive language, but the alleged victim was uncooperative.
