Authentic Portuguese Pastries Coming Soon to Brookline

A new bakery showcasing popular Portuguese delicacies will soon open in Brookline , led by husband and wife Stephen Chen and Cristina Quintino . Located at 1298 Beacon St , Flake Bakery is set to welcome guests in the spring of 2024, although an exact date has not yet been determined.

Quintino, who grew up in Lisbon, Portugal, noticed a gap in the local dining scene upon moving to the area: a lack of authentic pastéis de nata. These velvety egg custard tarts, crafted using flaky puff pastry and filled with sweet baked custard, are often delicately dusted with cinnamon.

Alongside the pastéis de nata and an array of other pastries, Flake will feature an eclectic coffee menu. While the space is primarily designed for takeout, patrons are also invited to sip and savor their sweets on-site.
