Sam Beam released his first album as Iron & Wine in seven years, Light Verse, back in April, and he’s on a North American tour supporting it now, which stopped in Atlanta on Monday (8/5) for a show at The Eastern. The setlist, which you can see below, included songs from throughout their discography, focusing on the new material but also including older favorites from 2004’s Our Endless Numbered Days, 2007’s The Shepherd’s Dog, and more. Mid-set, Sam delivered solo renditions of “Bitter Truth” and “Each Coming Night,” and the night ended with a two-song encore of “Sweet Talk” and “Call it Dreaming.” (He didn’t play his new American Football cover though.) Austin hardcore band Mugger (whose members have also played in Creepoid, Radioactivity, and The Well) are about to drop a new two-song 7″ on Quiet Panic Records tomorrow (8/10), including a song featuring John Brannon of Negative Approach, who Mugger just wrapped up a tour with. The 7″ will be limited to just a clear lathe cut 7″ and a blue lathe cut 7″ (both limited to 50 copies), and the songs are getting their online premiere in this post. Vocalist Anna Troxell says:

To celebrate the 30th anniversary of their 1994 debut LP Burn My Eyes, Machine Head have unearthed the original unmastered demo cassette of the 1993 demo that got them signed to Roadrunner, as well as a previously unreleased 1992 4-track cassette rehearsal demo with original drummer Tony Costanza. Both have been remastered at Sterling Sound, and they’re now available for pre-order as Diamonds in the Rough ’92-’93, pressed to 180 gram double vinyl. The front gatefold has a gold foil Machine Head diamond logo, and it comes with a 16-page, 12″x12″ booklet featuring previously unseen photos from the era and liner notes by vocalist Robb Flynn. 20 Buck Spin, consistently home to many of our favorite metal releases, has signed an artist named Neon Nightmare, who appears to be keeping their identity under wraps. There’s a long list of video credits for their debut single “Lost Silver” but no songwriter or performer credits, and the artist has their face blurred out in their press photo. “Lost Silver” comes with single artwork that pays homage to Type O Negative album art, and the song sounds sounds a lot like Type O Negative too. Everybody seems to agree. Too on the nose? Maybe, but they do it really, really well. The artist’s bio also references Brooklyn, as well as the hometowns of Black Sabbath, Glenn Danzig and the Misfits, and the Delta blues (more specific tributes to come? a list of Type O’s influences?):
