Local holiday icon, ‘Santamobile’ creator passes away at 81
DAVENPORT, Iowa (KWQC) - Michael Peppers, recognized by many in the Quad Cities as Santa during the holiday season, died Monday. During his lifetime, 81-year-old Peppers was a Vietnam War veteran and an avid car collector and restorer. His creations included the short-timer and the Santamobile, featured during the Festival of Trees event, according to an obituary.
Gov. Reynolds Issues Disaster Proclamation for Five Counties in Response to Severe Storms
DES MOINES – Gov. Kim Reynolds has issued a disaster proclamation for Des Moines, Dubuque, Mitchell, Polk and Scott Counties in response to severe storms that occurred on July 15 and continuing. The governor’s proclamation allows state resources to be utilized to respond to and recover from the effects of this severe weather and activates the Iowa Individual Assistance Grant Program and Disaster Case Advocacy Program.
Red Cross helping Scott Co. residents needing shelter
Scott County residents who have been displaced due to flooding and/or last night’s storm have resources for finding a place to stay.
