Two vehicle accident reported in Butler County from the weekend
Saturday about 10am the Iowa State Patrol was called out on the report of a two vehicle accident northwest of Shell Rock along Highway 3 near Vintage Lane. 56-year-old Sonia High of Shell Rock was traveling westbound on Highway 3 driving a 2012 GMC Acadia when for some reason she crossed the centerline and struck an eastbound semi-truck and trailer combination driven by 62-year-old Michael Toussaint of Sumner head on.

IUC Schedules Public Hearing On Black Hills Energy’s Request For Natural Gas Rate Increases
The Iowa Utilities Commission (IUC) has scheduled a public hearing for later this year to discuss Black Hills Energy’s proposed natural gas rate increase. The hearing will be held in the IUC’s Hearing Room on Dec. 9 at 10 a.m. at 1375 E. Court Ave. in Des Moines. Black Hills Energy filed an application on May 1 seeking approval to revise its rates to increase its annual revenues. This request is being reviewed as required by state law and the IUC’s administrative rules. The hearing will include the presentation of evidence and cross-examination of witnesses. Public comments can be submitted online, via email to customer@iuc.iowa.gov, or by mail using the address included below. Black Hills Energy serves 1.3 million customers in eight Midwest states, including natural gas services in the listening area.

Wintrust Business Minute: John Deere is planning for more layoffs
Steve Grzanich has the business news of the day with the Wintrust Business Minute. Farm machinery maker Deere & Co. is planning more layoffs. The Moline-based company has notified salaried employees there’ll be additional global salaried workforce reductions beginning July 24th. The company says the decision is due to declining customer demand, rising costs, and prevailing economic uncertainties. Deere recently announced hundreds of layoffs of production workers in Dubuque, Davenport and East Moline. Meanwhile, the company has announced it will no longer participate in “cultural awareness parades” after being criticized by a right leaning commentator for funding a Pride event.
Women's soccer announces 2024 schedule
ROCK ISLAND -- The 2024 Augustana Vikings women's soccer schedule has been released and is now available for viewing. Augie opens the new season at home on August 30 when they welcome Concordia-Chicago to Thorson-Lucken Field before venturing on the road for the next four contests. The Vikings will take on Illinois College and Coe on back-to-back Wednesdays before a two-day road trip to Wisconsin to face Lakeland and Ripon on September 14 and 15.
