BUFFALO, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Rochester man was arrested Friday after he allegedly broke into a woman’s Buffalo residence and assaulted her, Buffalo police announced.

Police said they received a call from a 12-year-old stating that her mother was being assaulted around 10 p.m. Thursday. Officers then responded to a residence on the 400 block of Normal Avenue and reportedly heard screaming inside.

After breaching a locked door, officers found a female victim badly injured on the floor, according to police. The woman claimed the assailant, a man known to her, allegedly broke into the home, physically and sexually assaulted her, took her phone and fled through a broken window, police said.

Adan Mohamed, 35, was arrested in connection with the alleged assault following an investigation and charged with:

    • One count of first-degree burglary
    • One count of second-degree strangulation
    • One count of fourth-degree grand larceny
    • One count of fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property
    • One count of third-degree criminal mischief
    • One count of third-degree assault
    • One count of second-degree harassment

Mohamed was also wanted out of Rochester for a warrant related to a separate incident.

Police said an investigation into the sexual assault allegations is ongoing.
