Buffalo Bills QB Josh Allen gets unfair disrespect from NFL's top minds going into 2024 season

Josh Allen is certainly one of the best quarterback's in the NFL, yet he continues to be served the ultimate disrespect.

The Bills struggles in the playoffs and inability to make it to the biggest stage in football has led to much of the blame being placed on Allen. And because of that, he's labeled as inconsistent.

The disrespect continued on Monday when ESPN released their "Execs, coaches, scouts rank NFL's top 10 QBs for 2024"

While it's no surprise that Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes took home the No. 1 spot, the second spot should have been Allen's.

But instead, it was given to Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow who didn't even play the entire 2023 season after suffering a right wrist injury in Week 11.

Allen came in at No. 3 despite being the only other quarterback to be ranked first over Mahomes.

And ESPN even compared him to the three-time Super Bowl champion.

"He is Mahomes' neighbor in style of play but lives on a different street of accomplishment. He's been in the top five for four consecutive seasons but hasn't cracked the top two. Most agree Allen should have played in at least one AFC title game by now," ESPN's Jeremy Fowler wrote.

However, Allen's lowest ranking was six, with many having him outside of the top five.

And one executive also provided his take on why Allen hasn't quite gotten to that elite level yet.

"He leaves you wanting more a little bit," an AFC executive told ESPN. "But if you're picking who you want to have to lead your team, he's going to be second or third for most people. The ceiling is still really high. And I don't really feel he was the reason the Bills haven't been able to finish."

Allen is a true team player, and is the definition of someone you would want to lead the team.

"I saw a quarterback who is consistently a high performer who elevates his team at every chance," a high-ranking NFL official told ESPN.

Allen even said he would retire tomorrow if it meant the Bills would win the Super Bowl. That's something every Buffalo fan loves to hear, but Bills Mafia would much rather have Allen leading the way than any other quarterback.

But the disrespect will always continue to come.

"One of the more overrated players in the NFL," a veteran NFL executive also told ESPN. "Immense talent but he makes a lot of mistakes. He's underdeveloped at winning at the line of scrimmage, tends to lock on to targets, more of a thrower than precision passer, forces throws into traffic."

Now Allen just has to prove everybody wrong.
