NFL Analyst Reveals Buffalo Bills’ Biggest Reason For Optimism

The Buffalo Bills underwent a lot of changes on their roster this offseason. A tough salary cap situation led to several key players being released or not re-signed in free agency.

One of the position groups that was hit hardest by departures was wide receiver. Gabe Davis signed with the Jacksonville Jaguars in free agency. Stefon Diggs was traded to the Houston Texans.

Deeper reserves Deonte Harty and Trent Sherfield also departed in free agency, landing with the Baltimore Ravens and Minnesota Vikings, respectively.

That is a lot of production and depth out of the door for the Buffalo Bills offensively. But, general manager Brandon Beane did make several additions to help replace the losses.

Multiple veterans were signed in free agency, headlined by Curtis Samuel. Marquez Valdes-Scantling, Mack Hollins, K.J. Hamler and Chase Claypool give Josh Allen a deep, diverse case of pass catchers to work with.

However, the player most people will be keeping their eyes on is rookie second-round pick, Keon Coleman. The Florida State product has all of the tools to become a dominant No. 1 receiver at the next level.

Heading into training camp this offseason, Coleman will have a chance to cement his place in the Buffalo Bills’ pecking order at receiver. In the opinion of Ryan Fowler of Bleacher Report, Coleman’s arrival is the biggest reason for optimism for the Bills heading into camp.

“That left a gaping hole to fill leading up to the draft. Enter No. 33 overall pick Keon Coleman, who’ll be asked to fill the shoes of Davis and Diggs.

Coleman’s 6’4″ frame, explosiveness and ability to play above the rim should help him become Allen’s favorite perimeter weapon before long.

Second-year tight end Dalton Kincaid will threaten the seam, and the Bills also signed Curtis Samuel to round out the receiving core.

But there’s no question heading into camp about who should become the focal point in Buffalo’s aerial attack,” Fowler wrote.

Some analysts believe that the new-look supporting cast will help improve the production of Allen. Coleman is going to be a major part of the game plan given his ability to win at all levels of the field.
