Madden 25 is getting the Bills' pecking order at wide receiver terribly wrong

There's still plenty to sort out in the Buffalo Bills' wide receiver room, but it appears Madden 25 doesn't quite agree with the consensus on how the group stacks up.

In fact, I'd go so far as to say that they have it terribly, terribly wrong.

Here's how they currently rank the position group.

Madden 25 has Curtis Samuel as the highest-rated wide receiver

In their first year post-Stefon Diggs, Buffalo isn't checking in with a wide receiver high on the Madden ratings. Their highest-graded receiver is newcomer Curtis Samuel , who checks in with an 80 rating, 47th-best in the league.

His 80 rating is warranted. Samuel is a veteran with plenty of speed and versatility.

What makes no sense is how the rest of the position group shakes out. Marquez Valdes-Scantling is second? KJ Hamler is higher than Keon Coleman ?!

Let's start with MVS. There's a decent chance that Valdes-Scantling doesn't even make the 53-man roster . He's a stretch wide receiver that was brought in as an option to take the top off the defense, but with Mack Hollins and even Tyrell Shavers having strong camps, he isn't a lock by any means.

Keep in mind that the Bills only rostered five wide receivers last year. We know that Samuel, Khalil Shakir , and Coleman are roster locks. Valdes-Scantling isn't exactly kicking down the door for a spot – he's 29 years old, only had 21 catches last season with the Chiefs with very little target competition, and has been essentially a no-show throughout camp, by all accounts.

Valdes-Scantling being ranked higher than Shakir, in particular, is positively criminal.

Keon Coleman getting the rookie treatment from Madden

It's not uncommon for rookies, especially those drafted outside the first round, to get a low first ranking on Madden. Coleman is no different, sitting with a 73 overall ranking.

    Again, criminal.

Sure, he hasn't had the opportunity to prove his talents on an NFL field yet, so I understand Madden taking the cautious approach, but his athletic ability alone should be worth a handful of points more than he is currently getting. A 6'4" boundary wide receiver with in-game speed (toss out his 40-yard dash) in college to go along with leaping ability and great hands, Coleman should be getting more love than his 73 rating.

Madden will play a "wait and see" with Coleman, but one or two big games and that rating could begin to climb.
