Chaplain joins Vian Police Department
Vian’s Board of Trustees voted to appoint Buddy Hunt as a certified police chaplain for the Vian Police Department during their June 17 regular monthly meeting. Vian Police Chief Mark Harkins said Hunt will be the Vian Police Department’s first staffed department Chaplin, which is a non-paid position.
Vian School Board approves contracts, staffing
The Vian Board of Education convened for its regular meeting on June 10, where Superintendent John Brockman gave a report on the progress of the new high school construction. The meeting then proceeded to the business section, where a series of crucial decisions were made. The board approved payroll, encumbrances, and warrants, noting a net increase of $13,158.25 in the General Funds for the 2023-24 fiscal year. Additionally, transfers within the Activity Funds were authorized, including $59 for slushies for the high school baseball team and $592 for plaques for TSA.
