Central football coach adding baseball to coaching duties
In a bit of a whirlwind situation, Central High School was in need of filling its baseball coaching job after CHS fast-pitch softball and baseball coach Wes Green was hired as the new Sallisaw Lady Diamonds softball coach, so in last Wednesday night’s Central Public Schools Board of Education meeting, it decided to let the current staff fill the void.
RTR Legacy Association hosts first gala honoring 1984 riders
TAHLEQUAH – The Remember the Removal Legacy Association hosted its first gala on July 13, honoring the 1984 RTR riders on the 40th anniversary of the ride. “This is our very first gala,” RTR Legacy Association President Kayce O’Field said. “Each year we have a new board, so it just kind of depends on what the plans are for next year’s board, but we do want to make this an annual thing.”

Sallisaw High School’s Hadlee McFarland first joined FFA while in the eighth grade thanks to a couple of family members who encouraged her to join. “My mom and uncle had shown animals in school and had told me stories about their fun times, so I thought I’d try it out for myself,” said McFarland.
