An excessive heat warning continues into Thursday for much of south central and eastern Kansas. The National Weather Service was forecasting dangerously hot conditions with high temperatures around 104 for the Wichita area and heat index values up to 109. Thursday is expected to have heat index readings of 100 in central Kansas and up to 110 in southern areas of the state.
