Fire destroys barn, causes $1 million in damage in Woodstock
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A fire destroyed a barn Monday morning in unincorporated McHenry County near Woodstock.Woodstock Fire/Rescue District firefighters responded to the fire around 10:30 a.m. in the 1600 block of South Rose Farm Road, and found a large barn fully engulfed in flames.The nearest fire hydrant was more than two miles away, requiring crews to use several water tenders to bring water to the scene.Due to strong winds and downed power lines, firefighters also had difficulty reaching parts of the barn as they used several hoses to douse the flames.It took firefighters about 90 minutes to get the fire under control, and crews remained on the scene for two more hours to make sure the fire did not start up again.The barn was completely destroyed, but firefighters were able to prevent the flames from spreading to two neighboring buildings on the property.Fire officials estimated the fire caused more than $1 million in damage. No injuries were reported, and no animals were in the barn, which was used for storage. The cause of the fire is under investigation, but is not believed to be suspicious.
Homeless man charged after disturbance near Geneva train station
GENEVA, Ill. - A homeless man was arrested for allegedly causing a public disturbance near the Geneva train station on Monday. Around 12:09 p.m., Geneva police said 911 callers reported an "armed man" dressed in black, wearing a ski mask and gloves, was aggressively approaching cars on Third Street near Crescent Place. Some callers suggested shots had been fired, while others said Harris was allegedly holding a cellphone "like a handgun."

Woman Shot Dead In Elgin During Suspected Domestic Dispute
A woman is dead after being shot late Tuesday morning after what police believe was a domestic dispute. At 11:57am Tuesday, Elgin police officers responded to the 1300 block of Fleetwood Drive for a report of an injured subject. Officers arrived on the scene and located an adult female victim with injuries who was subsequently transported to an area hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
One person seriously hurt after jumping off bridge in Aurora
The Kane County Sheriff's Office says a man was seriously hurt after jumping from the Farnsworth Bridge onto I-88 Thursday afternoon in Aurora. The sheriff's office says it happened at about 1:47 p.m. into eastbound traffic near mile marker 119. No vehicles hit the man, who is said to have jumped on purpose. He was taken to an area hospital for treatment.
Hotel employee reports minor injury in Sunday fire in Sycamore
A hotel employee was hurt in a fire in Sycamore Sunday morning. The Sycamore Fire Department says firefighters were called to the Best Western Inn at 1935 DeKalb Avenue at about 9 a.m. for a report of a dryer fire. Fire crews had the fire under control in minutes and contained it to the dryer and another nearby structure.
