It’s an exciting weekend for cat lovers in the Queen City as the first ever cat lounge is set to open its doors to the public on Sunday, July 28th. The Queen City Cat Lounge (QCCL) is located at 1127 North Avenue, Suite 34 in Burlington, Vermont and the registration for reservations is now live.

The Queen City Cat Lounge was formed around the idea that Burlington and surrounding communities need to expand homeless pet operations including for our local cats and kittens. A think tank of passionate, caring, cat-focused friends came up with this idea to open a lounge. The facility not only gives stray cats a place to stay until they find a new home, but it also gives them the visibility and socialization they need in order to get adopted into their new home.

Miche Faust, the founder of Queen City Cats and co-founder of the Queen City Cat Lounge, described to us how getting a slot to enjoy your time with adoptable cats and kittens is just a few clicks away. Miche says, “It’s super simple. Just go to queencitycatlounge.com and go to book your visit. Just click on whatever time and day you want to see us and put your information in. There is a waiver for you to sign, but that’s it. It’s super simple!”

The furry friends being homed at the Queen City Cat Lounge are cats that are currently up for adoption through the rescue organization, Queen City Cats. We partner with Queen City Cats for our Forever Home segment and know how important their network of foster parents and homes are for these cats. Foster homes provide the necessary attention and socialization that some of these cats need while awaiting their adoption day. The Queen City Cat Lounge will act as a large, safe, new foster home for Queen City Cats all as the daily call volume about cats/kittens in need of their help continues to grow tremendously.

The intent of the QCCL is to spotlight cats in need of their Forever Homes, but it’s also a space where people can come to hangout, get their fill of fun and happiness all while being educated about cats as both owners are cat behavioralists. Kristina Madarang Stahl says, “The cats that come through our community and don’t have any homes are able to be together and coalesce in a space that safe, full of education and adventure and socialization for the cats along with humans.” However, if you’re going to the Lounge with the intent to adopt, it is mandatory that you first fill out an application on the Queen City Cats website and wait to be approved. Once approved, you can schedule that visit to the lounge to find the feline friend of your dreams.

The Queen City Cat Lounge will not be serving food, beverages, etc., but they do encourage folks to shop around and support local at other businesses in the same plaza. What you will be able to buy at the Queen City Cat Lounge includes locally, handmade cat toys from a small business called ‘The Crotched Sunflower’. There will also be merchandise from Queen City Cats available to purchase with those funds supporting the care of these furry friends until they find their Forever Homes.

If you are interested in signing up for a slot at the Queen City Cat Lounge, they are taking reservations right now for the upcoming weekend. Saturday is a soft open for CrowdFund supporters. Sunday, the lounge is open to the general public. You can find more information about the Queen City Cat Lounge, their pricing, rules/etiquette, available dates and times all by visiting their website, www.queencitycatlounge.com.
