Aaron Reutzel Cruises to Another 360 Win; Ryan Navratil Scores First Career Win in Pros. KNOXVILLE, Iowa (July 13, 2024) – Austin McCarl won another incredible feature event Saturday with the 988 Lifeline 410’s at Knoxville Raceway on Van Wall Night at the Marion County Fair! After passing his brother Carson, he outdueled Kerry Madsen to the checkers to win his eighth career 410 feature here and $6,000 as well as a half beef aboard the Country Builders Construction #88. Aaron Reutzel was dominant in the 360 main event, leading all 18 laps and scoring his fifth win of the season, and the fourteenth in his career in that class, as well as a half a hog. Ryan Navratil became the tenth first-time feature winner at the Knoxville Raceway in 2024, when he made a late race pass in the Pro Sprint main to earn $800 and a quarter-hog.

PELLA—For the third consecutive year, the Central College’s men’s basketball team has received the National Association of Basketball Coaches Team Academic Excellence Award while four Dutch players were tabbed for the NABC Honors Court. Former Panther Keitges Putting On Camp In Knoxville
Former Knoxville Girls Basketball Great Katie Keitges is coming back to Knoxville to put on a camp for elementary and middle school aged kids in August. The Katie Keitges Basketball Camp along with the Knoxville Youth Activities Alliance will be August 5th and 6th at the Knoxville Middle School. Keitges, who is the all-time scoring leader in girls basketball at Knoxville and now plays at the University of Omaha, tells KNIA/KRLS Sports she has always wanted to put on a camp locally and to give back to the community that she grew up in.

If there’s one team in their field of opponents Pella has been unable to figure out on the softball diamond, it’s No. 3 ranked Norwalk. Tonight, the Dutch will try to piece together that puzzle in the Class 4A regional final with a state tournament bid on the line. Pella has lost all three matchups with the Little Hawkeye Conference co-champions by a combined score of 35-1 this summer. Knoxville Public Library Holding “Olympic Story Time” with Randy Wilson on Thursday
The Knoxville Public Library is holding an Olympic Story Time event with Randy Wilson on Thursday. This is an opportunity for kids in the community to hear stories from one of the greatest track and field athletes and coaches in Iowa history. Wilson will also talk about his experience qualifying for the Olympics in 1980, as we are approaching the 2024 Summer Olympics. Knoxville Public Library Director Roslin Thompson hopes kids in the community can come out to hear about Wilson’s experience.
McCarl Beats Madsen In Late Race Duel
What started as the Brothers McCarl battle, became a wild three lap back-and-forth between Austin McCarl and Kerry Madsen as McCarl outdueled Madsen to the line in the 410 feature on another sizzling night of racing at the Knoxville Raceway. Garet Williamson started on the pole and checked out when the green flag dropped, but Williamson dropped out when he spun and caught the berm on lap five. That put Carson McCarl up front on the restart, but that was short lived when brother Austin took the lead. He would lead the final ten laps but Kerry Madsen seemed to have a faster car, but never could out run McCarl. He told KNIA/KRLS that he had thrown just about everything at the car and knew Madsen would give him all he could handle.

Norwalk Softball routs Ballard 7-0, setting up 4A regional final against Pella
The Norwalk softball team erupted for six runs in the second inning and defeated Ballard 7-0 in Saturday night’s Class 4A, Region 6 semifinal heard live on the KNIA3 stream. Warrior pitchers Carly Brewer and Olivia Dougherty combined on a two-hit shutout, the defense turned in a pair of brilliant double plays and all seven runs came home on triples and homers. The third-ranked Warriors improved to 28-7 overall while the Bombers finished their season at 12-20.
