    Donald Trump puts on brave face as he leaves Pennsylvania after rally shooting and flies to New Jersey

    Former President Donald Trump put on a brave face after being shot at during his rally in Butler, Pennsylvania .

    Trump, 78, was shot in the right ear as he spoke at a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania, shortly after 6pm. He underwent medical treatment at a nearby hospital and then flew to Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey .

    Trump 's Deputy Director of Communications Margo Martin said the ex-president is "strong and resilient".

    Ms Martin shared a video of Trump strolling down the stairs of his private jet seemingly tiredly as he had a Secret Service agent behind and ahead of him after he landed in New Jersey on X, formerly Twitter.

    “Strong and resilient. He will never stop fighting for America,” Margo wrote on the social media platform.

    Ms Martin’s post garnered a lot of comments from those thankful that Trump is still standing.

    “Thank you Jesus he is okay. Knowing our President he is devastated by the loss of an innocent man, a supporter, killed by an evil terrorist at his rally today. Praying for his family…,” one shared under her tweet.

    Another added: “Thank God President Trump is going to be okay! Not only did he dodge a bullet today, the whole nation did! We need him more than ever.”

    Another supporter said: “Prayers for President Trump now more than ever. He’s an absolute warrior for us and for this country.”

    The Trump campaign said the Republican candidate “is fine and is being checked out at a local medical facility.”

    About two-and-a-half hours after the shooting, Trump posted on his social media platform Truth Social. He thanked law enforcement and offered his condolences for the rally attendee who was killed in the shooting

    “It is incredible that such an act can take place in our country. Nothing is known at this time about the shooter, who is now dead,” Trump said.

    “I was shot with a bullet that pierced the upper part of my right ear. I knew immediately that something was wrong in that I heard a whizzing sound, shots, and immediately felt the bullet ripping through the skin. Much bleeding took place, so I realized then what was happening. GOD BLESS AMERICA!”
