BYHALIA, Miss. — A Mississippi town alderwoman and a man have been charged after police say a search turned up marijuana plants, methamphetamine, guns and a large amount of ammunition at a home in Byhalia, Miss.
Mississippi Bureau of Narcotics and Byhalia Police say they found the items after executing a search warrant Wednesday at a home on Katie Lane.
City Alderwoman Delainer Richmond was at the scene and told a WREG reporter she lived there.
Delainer Richmond, 50, was arrested and has been charged with conspiracy to commit a crime and manufacturing marijuana. Her bond has been set at $5,000, state officials said Thursday.
Curtis Richmond also was arrested and charged with conspiracy to commit a crime, manufacturing marijuana, and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon. His bond has been set at $7,500, the state said.

The federal Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms is working with MBN on the case, and may pursue federal charges against Curtis Richmond. The state said additional arrests are expected.
WREG knocked on the door at the Richmond home but no one answered Thursday.
Byhalia Mayor Don Hollingsworth said he had “no comment,” but added Richmond is a “good alderwoman” and he expects her to be at the next scheduled board meeting in July.
Around 3 a.m. Wednesday, Byhalia officers say they responded to an alarm call on Katie Lane, “and discovered some illegal stuff,” the city’s police chief said.
Once they approached the back of the house, they found the door was reportedly left open. When they went inside, they say they found a shed full of growing narcotics.

The police chief told WREG that this is not the first time they have responded to a call at this home.
Byhalia, in Marshall County a few miles southeast of Memphis, has a population of just under 1,400.
