UNC settles open-meetings complaint tied to trustee discussions of athletics finances
The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill must pay $25,000 and its trustees must affirm a commitment to follow the state's open-meeting laws as part of a settlement that dismissed a lawsuit over the board's handling of athletics discussions.David McKenzie, a lawyer in Wake County, had filed a complaint in May in Orange County Superior Court accusing trustees of violating open-meetings laws in previous private-session discussions tied to athletics budgets. NCHSAA sports see increase in student-athlete numbers
CHAPEL HILL, N.C. – The North Carolina High School Athletic Association saw nearly a five percent increase in overall participation during the 2023-2024 school year from the 2022-23 academic year. Across all sports, 208,722 student-athletes participated in NCHSAA sanctioned sports in 2023-2024, up from the 198,025 that participated in 2022-2023. This is based on information reported to the NCHSAA by its member schools.
NCPA announces finalists for 2024 Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition
ALEXANDRIA, Va. – The National Community Pharmacists Association and the NCPA Foundation are pleased to announce that teams of pharmacy students from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, the University of South Carolina, and the University of Texas at Austin have been named finalists in the 2024 Good Neighbor Pharmacy NCPA Pruitt-Schutte Student Business Plan Competition. The three teams will present their business plans in a live competition on Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024, at the NCPA Annual Convention in Columbus. The winning team will be announced on Sunday, Oct. 27, as part of the convention’s First General Session.
