    Woman charged with vehicle theft

    CAMBRIDGE — A Cambridge woman was arrested and charged with vehicle theft.

    According to a news release from the Cambridge Police Department, Tyresha Shawnece Hewitt, 24, was arrested on vehicle theft, drug possession and prostitution charges.

    Police said officers responded to a report of a stolen vehicle at the Cambridge Inn at approximately 4:51 a.m. on July 1. When the officers arrived, the victim reported that their vehicle had been stolen by Hewitt and advised officers that Hewitt might be at the Bradford House, which is an apartment complex in the 700 block of Race Street.

    Police said officers responded to the 700 block of Race Street and located the vehicle, which was occupied. Hewitt, who police said was positively identified by the victim, was arrested. Police said officers located drugs and property belonging the the victim on Hewitt.

    After the arrest, Hewitt was turned over to the Dorchester County Department of Corrections on a temporary commitment.
