    Things to do: Hunter Hayes, Marshall Tucker Band, others to perform at music fest

    OLD WASHINGTON — We're in the thick of summer and that can only mean it's time for the inaugural Old Washington Music Fest. The three-day event is scheduled to take place Thursday through Saturday at the Guernsey County Fairgrounds. Limited camping is available, and the lineup is sure to please every fan of '90s country music. Thursday night will see Ray Scott, Little Texas and Travis Tritt taking the stage. Friday brings Ohio Valley favorites Hoard & Jones, as well as the Silver Stallion Highwayman Tribute, War Hippies, Marshall Tucker Band and Craig Morgan. Taking the stage on Saturday is LandRey, Jake Binegar, Buddy Jewell, Colin Stough, Adam Doleac, LANCO and Hunter Hayes.     Splash and Dash

    CAMBRIDGE — The Guernsey County Runners and Walkers Club, will host the second annual Splash and Dash 5K and 1-mile fun run at 8 a.m. Saturday, July 27 at the Cambridge Developmental Center, 66737 Toland Drive. The race will consist of a 5K. Runners will take a flat course around the Cambridge Developmental Center as local first responders get creative to keep them cool. First responders, community members and Cambridge Developmental Center staff will be poised to attack with squirt guns, tanker trucks and fire hydrants. Participants can register for the race by visiting www.runsignup.com. The cost to register for the 5K and the 1-mile fun run is $30 for adults through July 26 and will increase to $35 on race day.     Beauty and the Beast

    CAMBRIDGE − The Cambridge Performing Arts Center will present the beloved Disney classic "Beauty and the Beast Jr." at 7 p.m. Friday and Saturday, July 26 and 27, and Aug. 2 and 3, and 3 p.m. Sunday, July 28 and Aug. 4. The local cast of more than 50 performers will bring the characters to life on stage. The show will feature music from both the animated classic and the Broadway production. Jackie Connell will play Belle, while Cooper Gadd takes on the role of Beast. Opening night is projected to sell out, so grab tickets online to secure a seat.     Fireman's festival

    CALDWELL — Get ready for the 72nd annual Caldwell Fireman's Festival on July 25-27. Three days of fun, food and good times in Caldwell. The 4-H parade is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Thursday, with a square dance to follow with the Buckeye Travelers at 7 p.m. Friday the festival returns with rides, food and a 5k and 1-mile fun run.     Back-to-school bash

    CAMBRIDGE — If you're already thinking about school supplies and the associated costs, take some of the stress away and enjoy a day at First Christian Church in Cambridge. Hosting their third annual Back to School Bash from 2to 4 p.m. July 27, the church parking lot will be filled with fun. According to the Facebook event page, "Last year we were able to give out 25 free backpacks and hundreds of school supplies to support local school-aged children and families."
