A collaboration between celebrity chefs John Besh and Aarón Sánchez, Johnny Sánchez offers a modern take on traditional Mexican flavors. Situated in the CBD, this stylish restaurant serves up creative and flavorful dishes. The Carne Asada Tacos, with juicy grilled steak, avocado, and a zesty chimichurri sauce, were a highlight of my visit.
El Gato Negro
El Gato Negro, with locations in the French Quarter and Lakeview, is known for its authentic Mexican dishes and extensive tequila selection. The warm and inviting ambiance makes it a great spot for a relaxing meal. The laid-back vibe and creative taco combinations make it a must-visit. I couldn’t get enough of the Messin’ with Texas Tacos, featuring slow-cooked brisket, fresh pico de gallo, and a spicy jalapeño aioli.
Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria
Felipe’s Mexican Taqueria, with multiple locations across New Orleans, is a go-to spot for quick and delicious Mexican fare. The casual, fast-casual setting is perfect for a laid-back meal. Their Carnitas Burrito, packed with savory pulled pork, rice, beans, and topped with fresh salsa and guacamole, was a hearty and satisfying meal.
